I'd Like to Visit the Moon (one of my favorite songs growing up)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIntrayvOlc

Well I'd like to visit the moon,
on a rocket ship high in the air.
Yes, I'd like to visit the moon,
but I don't think I'd like to live there.

Though, I'd like to look down at the earth from above,
I would miss all the places and people I love
so although I might like it for one afternoon
I don't wanna live on the moon.

I'd like to travel under sea,
I could meet all the fish everywhere
Yes, I'd travel under the sea,
But I don't think I'd like to live there.
I might stay for a day there if I had my wish
but there's not much to do when your friends are all fish,
and an oyster and clam aren't real family,
so I don't wanna live in the sea.

I'd like to visit the jungle, hear the lions roar,
go back in time and meet a dinosaur,
there's so many strange places I'd like to be,
but none of them permanently.

So if I should visit the moon,
well I'll dance on a moonbeam and then,
I will make a wish on a star and I'll wish I was home once again.

Though, I'd like to look down at the earth from above,
I would miss all the places and people I love
So although I may go,
I'll be coming home soon
Cause I don't want to live on the moon
No I don't want to live on the moon.

Our wonderfully crazy friends can no longer go to the Thievery Corp / Seu Jorge concert tomorrow night so we have two extra tickets (link below). In the spirit of giving we are willing to donate them to two fun / chill people in the area (preferably Westsiders like ourselves - we live in Venice) that would like to join us in the festivities. We are both adventuresome and eclectic professionals. Drop me a line if you interested. Any humorous and personally informative responses would be greatly appreciated.

Have a great weekend.

Conversations on Love

Recently I was Blessed by one of the most beautiful conversations i have ever had, and I felt it needed to be continued. Here are my thoughts on it.

Love is truth, Love is God, Love is the most beautiful and most raw feeling we could ever have as humans. So here we are the essences of the vision our fathers and mothers had for us, cultivating the one Love. Living in Love, creating happiness as often as we can. We have learned to Love our friends, our community, our music, ourselves, we have made so many changes to be in the path of enlightenment. Still with all that evolution some how we have neglected our ability to Love in the construct of personal relations. Why do we loose the feeling of the one Love when we are in Love with one? What is it that changes our thought processes when it comes to "Lovers"? We are able to love those we call friends unconditionally with out expectations, we allow those people to be themselves, have there faults. And without even a blink of an eye we accept because we Love them. But when in the structure of relationship those same faults, demons, and down falls challenge us to the core. Is it not the same Love? Have we let archaic relationship structures cloud our ability to Love one with one Love? We are embarking on a time of great change and we know deep in our hearts that those that love can be the answer. So now I think we have a challenge to redefine these old traditions with in relation, as we have redefined so many other structures we have been conditioned with. I am not in full support of polysexual relations (if thats what you like go for it) I am personally in support of monogamy with ties to sex. But I am curios about the truth behind polyamory, the ability of the human mind to love in multiples. I truly believe we can change the way we love within relation, as well as how we define relation. I believe this to be one of the more perplexing and challenging philosophical issues i have wrapped my mind around, and i really would love you to sit on this topic, please write any thoughts down. We will be Blessed to hear your thoughts.

The Moon (this tribe's topic)

Please refrain from posting FMG and outdoor gathering related topics in this tribe, and instead post them in the Moontribe Collective tribe:

tribes.tribe.net/moontribecollective

This tribe was created to be about the moon. The original moderator happened to have named it "The Moon Tribe", which caused some confusion because it bared a similarity to Moontribe. There are a lot of people on this tribe who have no interest in desert gatherings , although they don't participate much anymore because all the Moontribe people accidentally usurped the tribe's purpose and topic.

I'm going to start deleting all posts and photos related to gatherings and ask the people who post them to instead post in the Moontribe Collective tribe. (Although I don't think I can bring myself to delete the "trance, still?" thread)

Full Moon in Libra

When the Moon is full in Libra, it is reflecting the light from the Sun in Aries. The polarity of these two opposing signs represents knowing self in an effort to know others; thereby allowing others to truly know us. The Libra Moon reflects the light of Arian individuality and uses it as the fuel for greater understanding of others.

Know thyself and the true nature of all things will be revealed.

As with every Libra Full Moon, we have an opposition to a blatantly self-interested Aries Sun, but on this Full Moon this opposition is squared by a Mars in Cancer/Pluto in Capricorn opposition creating a cardinal grand square. So, take a deep breath, because this grand square is challenging us to work out relational problems no matter what it takes. Successful engagement with a grand square comes when we refuse to get caught in the idea that the way of any one planet in the configuration holds the answer to all the issues.

Grand squares challenge us to distill the essence and strengths of four different points of view, bring them together, and through mediation and compromise create thought, speech, and actions which are solution-focused, positive, and life-affirming. A great example for this grand square is learning (Pluto in Capricorn) to set personal limits and boundaries (Sun in Aries) during relational interactions (Moon in Libra) while maintaining an attitude of care and compassion (Mars in Cancer) for all involved.

A Full Moon in Libra asks each of us to practice one particular relational skill: listening attentively with an open heart, an open mind, and without interruption or feedback. What exactly will we be listening for? Hopefully we can each attend to the voices of All Our Relations. This includes every living thing, on all planes of existence, on this planet, in our solar system, in our galaxy, and all throughout the multiplicitous universe. Think of this day as an invitation to enter into a sacred circle with every one and every thing you encounter. Interrupt less, listen more, and learn from every word, every movement, each intimation, and every action. With the light of the Full Moon making all things knowable, it is our job to open ourselves wide and take in all of life: the joy, the pain, the suffering, the ecstasy, the extraordinary, the ordinary, the pure, the defiled, the ignorance and intelligence.

This year, Venus (heart), Mercury (mind), and Uranus (the awakener) in Pisces and a sextile (opportunity) from Uranus to Jupiter in Capricorn, make it possible for us to drop deeply into the recognition of interconnectivity on a very practical level. How we take care of ourselves and how we caretake others has real consequences. Are our own emotional needs being met in large measure because we refuse to take into consideration the needs of others? Or are our own needs being dismissed in order to fulfill the wishes and desires of others? These are decisively Libran questions whose answers are often laden with a sense of doing whatever it takes to avoid conflict. Hopefully working on appropriate ways to express anger has been a goal since the New Moon in Pisces. This is the Full Moon to celebrate all of that transformative work and see if you can put it into practice through effective and healthy communication.

This is the Full Moon to gather with others and celebrate togetherness, commonality, love and peace. It is important to fully experience how your actions affect the people in your life. If it’s been ages since your family sat down together for dinner, this is the night for a good meal with great conversation. Sharing and listening breaks down barriers and engenders love. If you choose to do a nighttime Full Moon ritual, revel in the natural beauty that surrounds you. If it is warm enough, have your celebration outside under the Full Moon and invite the birds and animals to come into your circle of love. Believe me, an openhearted invitation is all they need and boy so they have a lot to say!

This is a great Full Moon for a lunchtime party at your office. Make the theme working together to achieve common goals, which is a perfect theme for the cardinal grand square. Set up chairs in a circle and make it a time for deep listening and sharing of ideas. Pass an object round the circle: whoever has it talks, and everyone else listens without interruption. Allow the thoughts and ideas to flow. You will know what subject is the best one to focus on. It could be a current project, or your company’s bottom line, or team building. With Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn, setting goals to achieve change will happen easily. Make sure you leave some time to discuss how the company can give back to your local community through volunteerism or project funding.

Libra rules Karma (action) and it is Libra’s job to give us the ability to pursue “right action”. What is this principle of right action?

1. Seek justice with fairness and balance.
2. Embrace your differences without being attached to them.
3. Work to understand viewpoints other than your own.
4. Remember “the truth” is relative and based upon one’s perception.
5. Initiate compromise, the basic building block of all solutions.
6. When we give a little we get a lot. When we give a lot, we get more than we can imagine.
7. Negotiation can always be the first and last response to conflict.
8. Violence is not a viable way to bring peace. Violence only begets more violence.
9. Insist on peace and non-violence.
10. When you cause pain and suffering to others, you destroy yourself in equal measure.
11. Saying and doing everything with love, compassion and respect is the only way to win.

Saying and doing everything with love, compassion and respect is the only way to win.
These principles are applicable to all our relationships, be they intimate, familial or professional. Think of how different our world would be if we all practiced these principles. It is every person’s responsibility to make sure that every other person lives in peace, free of violence and fear. That every person has shelter, food, access to good medical care and an education.

Libra perceives the differences, but understands that our underlying commonality makes it impossible to “do unto others without simultaneously doing the same to ourselves.” We each have a responsibility to make sure that every other living thing on this planet is accorded the right to exist. They are All Our Relations; what we do to nature, we do to ourselves. We are our eco-system: our poisoned water, air and land is a reflection of our own poisonous thoughts and actions. We will have to learn to live together in harmony and peace. How long will it take our species to realize that violence only begets more violence? Libra rules negotiation. It is time to open a dialogue; voices not bullets are needed now.

URGENT! PLEASE HELP TIBET! SIGN THIS PETITION!

URGENT! PLEASE HELP TIBET! SIGN THIS PETITION!
PLEASE REPOST!

> Dear friends,
>
> After decades of repression under Chinese rule,
> the Tibetan people’s frustrations have burst
> onto the streets in protests and riots. With the
> spotlight of the upcoming Olympic Games now on
> China, Tibetans are crying out to the world for
> change.
>
> The Chinese government has said that the
> protesters who have not yet surrendered "
> will be punished". Its leaders are right
> now considering a crucial choice between
> escalating brutality or dialogue that could
> determine the future of Tibet, and China.
>
> We can affect this historic choice--China does
> care about its international reputation. China’s
> President Hu Jintao needs to hear that the ’Made
> in China’ brand and the upcoming Olympics in
> Beijing can succeed only if he makes the right
> choice. But it will take an avalanche of global
> people power to get his attention--and we need
> it in the next 48 hours.
>
> The Tibetan Nobel peace prize winner and
> spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama has called for
> restraint and dialogue: he needs the world’s
> people to support him. Click below now to sign
> the petition--and tell absolutely everyone you
> can right away--our goal is 1 million voices
> united for Tibet:
>
::: SIGN THE PETITION! :::
http://www.avaaz.org/en/tibet_end_the_violence/6.php
>
> China’s economy is totally dependent on "
> Made in China" exports that we all buy, and
> the government is keen to make the Olympics in
> Beijing this summer a celebration of a new
> China, respected as a leading world power. China
> is also a very diverse country with a brutal
> past and has reason to be concerned about its
> stability -- some of Tibet’s rioters killed
> innocent people. But President Hu must recognize
> that the greatest danger to Chinese stability
> and development comes from hardliners who
> advocate escalating repression, not from
> Tibetans who seek dialogue and reform.
>
> We will deliver our petition directly to Chinese
> officials in London, New York, and Beijing, but
> it must be a massive number before we deliver
> the petition. Please forward this email to your
> address book with a note explaining to your
> friends why this is important, or use our tell-a-
> friend tool to email your address book--it will
> come up after you sign the petition.
>
> The Tibetan people have suffered quietly for
> decades. It is finally their moment to speak--we
> must help them be heard.
>
> With hope and respect,
>
> Ricken, Iain, Graziela, Paul, Galit, Pascal,
> Milena, Ben and the whole Avaaz team
>
> PS - It has been suggested that the Chinese
> government may block the Avaaz website as a
> result of this email, and thousands of Avaaz
> members in China will no longer be able to
> participate in our community. A poll of Avaaz
> members over the weekend showed that over 80% of
> us believed it was still important to act on
> Tibet despite this terrible potential loss to
> our community, if we thought we could make a
> difference. If we are blocked, Avaaz will help
> maintain the campaign for internet freedom for
> all Chinese people, so that our members in China
> can one day rejoin our community.

That reincarnation does exist; that entities , Atlantean in origin are being born to key families all around the World; that each of those entities has a Key purpose on this Earth and a Key role in this phase of the World moving smoothly into the next. Now, imagine that this phase is the one where human beings reach spiritual perfection; that this is the phase where the real magic happens.
On February 20th, 2008 I viewed the lunar eclipse. Just before full eclipse I saw a flash of light to the South of the Moon. It was plasmatic in nature and I almost felt as if it entered me through my eye. Since that moment I have been innately drawn to truths of our World.
Read all you can about Rudolf Steiner, I beg you. Garner as much knowledge as you can while communication lines are still up. Peace on Earth is your mission if you are drawn to this. Let's head the Call!!!

trance , still ?

I stopped going to integral gathering years and years ago (6? 7?) because, although the locations were often gorgeous.. there usually was an overwhelming amount of trance & psy trance etc being played + large presence of very young crowd, candy kids. So: is integral still a mainly trance + pre twenties event or has it come to welcome other types of electronic music (electro, tekhouse, breaks) as well as a more "adult" crowd (over 25 year old) ?

Nita Little \\ first call

Caravajal15 residenza dinamica
International Projects 2008

Orvieto \ Italy
April 25–May 2 / 2008

Nita Little
Restless Peace
A mind in motion and Contact Improvisation experience
Residential project for experienced movers

The American performer Nita Little will be the special guest of our association, first time in Italy as guest artist, for giving the project “Restless Peace”. The intensive workshop with Nita Little is in the calendar of our Residential Projects 2008, and will be from April 25 to May 2, 2008 in the beautiful Etruscan city of Orvieto, in middle Italy.

After the end of the workshop, on May 3rd and 4th, the association will plan also two days with the International Springfest Jam.

The intensive workshop and the Jam will be held both at the headquarters of the cultural Association Caravajal15 residenza dinamica, in the prestigious sixteenth century rooms of the Palazzo Caravajal-Simoncelli, in Orvieto.

Application for registration in the project with Nita Little is open from January 7th. For information and more details write to: info@contactfestival.it, or telephone to +39 0763.341479.

Nita Little
Restless Peace
The urge to move, to go where we have never been, is the soul of our practice in this workshop.
Developing a "home base", a place of personal and creative safety is as important as the journey; how wonderful to be free when you have a home! We learn, how like nomads, we may carry our home with us, even as we track paths in and out of unfamiliar territory.
We focus on developing the mental, emotional, and physical skills that enable dancers to travel creatively. Utilizing a full dance vocabulary, we integrate gestured movement improvisation with contact improvisation and build the skills to consciously weave these two forms.

We investigate “states” of mind / “states” of body as a means to develop and direct creative work in our improvisations. Developing the ability to describe and craft subtle levels of action and experience, we boost our physical potential while increasing our readability. Moving in solo, duet and group forms, we gain compositional tools for structural orientation; like torches, they light the way.

This workshop is developed for experienced movers who wish to pass beyond the threshold of old patterns. The restless human drive that takes us out of comfort, urges us to meet the unfamiliar, to move into, through and with the unknown, is a dance artist’s call. Here, we harness that drive and discover how, moving at the speed of our restless calling, we can find peace.

This class culminates in a creative work for performance at the workshop and at Zipfest08.

Things we will do:
Go deep into the physical philosophy behind contact improvisation.
Learn underlying CI principles that manifest as pathways of action.
Build the tools for safe physical and creative relationships
Discover different spatial orientations: vertical/hierarchical and horizontal/diffuse.
Learn about our temporal orientation and develop tools that modulate time.
Develop the skills to be able to move freely between states of mind.
Deepen our agreements to open to life, to the dance.
Honor peace.

about Nita Little
www.nitalittle.com
Nita Little has been developing, choreographing, performing and teaching improvisational dance for the past thirty-six years, notably Contact Improvisation, which she helped evolve from its inception with Steve Paxton, Nancy Stark Smith and others.
She collaborated in numerous performing companies introducing Contact Improvisation throughout the United States. She is a master teacher with former students all over the world, who are themselves now master dancers and teachers: Gretchen Spiro, Andrew Harwood, Frey Faust, Scott Wells, Julie Oak, Peter Bingham to name just a few. Through CI she discovered her abiding interest in the evolution of consciousness and the mind body relationship. Since 1981 she has been developing an evolving curriculum called The Mind in Motion, which explores the range of experiential states along the mind-body continuum and reveals principles that define Contact Improvisation as well as other movement forms. This work is informed by her investigation of the mind through work such as hypnotherapy and NeuroLinguistic Programming.

As a performing artist her current work is a mix of both formal and improvisational choreography and scores. While anchored in process, it frequently explores character, story, and concept.

Nita received a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in choreography and was on the California Arts Council Touring Program.
The latter award was to her solo dance company, NITA LITTLE DANCE THEATRE, which she began in 1984, continued through 1990, and reinstated as a pickup company in 2000. In 2002 Nita created Playing God, an hour-long dance opera that received funding through the Dance USA /National Endowment for the Arts.

Over the years Nita has been both faculty and guest artist at numerous colleges and universities including New York University, California Institute for the Arts, Texas Christian University, Temple University, Tufts University, Scripps College and UC Santa Barbara.

Nita teaches and performs yearly at national and international dance festivals including ImPulsTanz, Vienna, The Side Step Festival, Helsinki, Kontakt Budapest International Improvisation Festival, the International Contact Festival Freiburg, Germany, the Seattle Festival of Alternative Dance and Improvisation and the West Coast Contact Improvisation Festival, Berkeley California.
She also teaches locally and nationally throughout the year. She lives with her son in Santa Cruz Mountains in California.

As she has pioneered a path in the understanding of the mind/body/spirit relationship, Nita's mission, conscious evolution, has been the backbone of her passion and her practice. Her goal is to see, feel and reveal grace in all its forms and as it exists in the actions of the mind and the body.

Many Facets Flowing Towards LA

Hi y'all,

I'm on my way to LA to attend the Masque Ball ala Space Island. I'm originally from Seattle and haven't spent much time in LA.
I'm currently making my leisurely gypsy-esque way to Tucson where I plan to attend the Gem Show at the end of January. I want to spend some days in LA looking around. I have a few friends here to stay with a little and a friend who is dj'ing at the pahartay--but that's about it (I'm used to having a fluffier cushion of buddies). So I thought I'd put out a little heads up in case anyone wants to steer me towards any events, people, places or things that I might like.

I'm a certified yoga instructor and Reiki therapist and I'm also a painter--I'm so into giving yoga/reiki sessions on a sliding scale, or doing mural work, commissions and portraits. I also do live painting at shows with various bands througout Seattle and want to expand on this (ask for more details on this), and am open to all sorts of performance art ideas and installation/collaboration work.

Thanks!
in the light, for the light
Airin Hail

Conscious Party (bay area) looking for art

The production company I'm with is throwing a conscious party in the bay area, and we will have 2,000,000 square feet of outdoor flat open space (that's 46 acres). We're looking for art (sculptural mainly). Any help would be greatly appreciated, send a pm my way if you're interested with what you can bring to our space :) hope everyone is having a great day!

*Warning: Our parties are RAVE events, and although we aspire to the production quality and more of a club event, our main concern will ALWAYS be the vibe*

Fire Performers PLEASE READ - Wed. Town Hall Meeting

Hello!
please repost this to any fire performers you know, There are some important
issues facing the fire community, and we need to get the word out quick, and
there is an important Town Hall meeting wednesday.

In addition, there is a new discussion list for fire performers to discuss tips,
community interests, events, and more at:

http://www.curiousjosh.com/lafire

please sign up, more information about the list is below.

----
*Subject*: Town Hall Meeting: A Call to Arms for all Los Angeles Based Fire
Artists

*Where*: Smash Labs, 1714 Albion St, Los Angeles, CA 90031 323-227-6274

*When*: Doors open at 7pm Meeting begins at 8pm

*Who*: All members of the Los Angeles Based Fire Arts Community

*Why*: During recent interactions with Los Angeles County and State _Fire
Marshalls <http://www.film.ca.gov/LocationResources/FilmSafety.html>_we have
learned that they are in the process of designing a set of safety standards
and guidelines in an effort to standardize safety requirements within our
industry. These safety guidelines are to be implemented in the first
quarter of 2008.

We have the great fortune that our local county Fire Marshalls have
offered to allow us participate in the design of these standards.
Organizations such as the Safety Advisory for Fire and FX in Entertainment
(SAFFE)and members of the Pyrotechnics community have offered to provide
guidance or advice in the different methods of organizing ourselves and
interfacing with regulatory and enforcement entities such as the Fire
Department.

This *_Wednesday, December 12, 2007_* a Town Hall Meeting has been called to
inform the community and discuss the formation an organization comprised of
members representing the interests of the Los Angeles fire community.

******It is time for us all to come together, as a community - to openly
create our own guidelines that address issues, such as safety, performance
standards, etc. It is of the utmost importance that we collectively decide
this before it is decided for us*****

In Addition, there is a new e-mail discussion list for
fire artists and people who are interested in fire performance in the Los
Angeles area. This list can be joined by following this link:

http://www.curiousjosh.com/lafire

This list is an opportunity for us to stay in touch as a community, and
discuss a number of pressing issues that are affecting the Los Angeles fire
community such as the upcoming implementation of safety regulations,
standards, and restrictions governing our industry.

The LA Fire mailing list will be a great place to:
discuss issues affecting the fire community
share fire related tips and techniques
communicate about fire events in the LA area
and more

Please spread the word by continuing to forward this to fire performers who
are in Los Angeles, or who visit Los Angeles and perform with fire. If we
fail in this initiative then viewpoints such as "Poi is the most dangerous
tool in your arsenal" or the potential banning of poi spinning in the
direction of the audience may become a reality.

Troupes & Tool Manufacturers that have involvement in this initiative have
included: CuriousJosh, Fire Drums, Fire Groove, Los Angeles Fire Effects (LAFX),
Machina
Candeo, Mutaytor, Phoenix Projekt, Pyrophernalia / Om Fire, Sirena
Serpentina, Trick Concepts, & Volcano Flux.

*_Directions:
_*
SmashLabs
1714 Albion Street (entrance is here - big red door with cut metal numbers -
push down on the lever to enter)
The "back" door is a big roll door in the last parking lot on the North side
of Main just before the train tracks - look for the La Mano Press sign. If
it's full, there is an empty lot directly across the street on the South
side of Main Street, or feel free to park on Main or Albion and come in the
front. *main thing to remember is if you've gone over the tracks, you've
passed Albion which is a TINY street and easy to miss.

*GoogleMaps:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=1714+Albion+St,+Los+Angeles,+CA+90031,+USA&ie=UTF8&z=16&iwloc=addr&om=1

*
1714 Albion St,
Los Angeles, CA 90031 - it's the triangular space that starts on Main and
back up on Albion
323-22S-MASH (323-227-6274) is the office phone which I'll have on me in
case anyone gets lost.

*
"There are risks and costs to a program of action. But they are far less
than the long-range risks and costs of comfortable inaction."
-John F. Kennedy (1917 - 1963)*

"Wake Up!"
Then i got to high to write
Lost sight
Of the focus
I was centered on all night

The true light
In all this hocus pocus
The locusts
Swarm in my mind

Try to rewind
To a time
Where i was
A little less frazzled
Dazzled
By all the bright colors

All the lost lovers
Are embodied in me
I see
Only what i can

Plan
On stepping up one day
Yellin' destroy the corrupt one way
Or another
We are sisters and brothers
Fathers and mothers
To our community
Promote our unity

Support the artistry

Or watch it fall into government supported
Anarchy
Living in distrust
LIke rust, In the revolution

Their solution
To civil unrest
Put 'em in colleges
Make 'em take tests
Put 'em in debt
So they're not a threat

Easy to say you can change the world
But the tick of life has already burled
Deeper then they know
Cause once your out you owe
And degrees are a dime a dozen today

So i work as a cop these days
So I feed you slop all day
So I work at the Co op
Cooped up with all this to say

Try to change my situation
Curve my aggravation
Revive this dying nation

My numbing agents don't work any longer
I need something stronger
To kill this pain
But still let the Love remain
In this fragile heart

Shattered apart
By carelessly thrown
Stones
At glass homes
With wooden mirrors

The purpose?
To make you see a bit clearer

I believe we still have a chance
To dance
In glorious light
But we must take up arms and fight
For they will be here soon
To leave this town in ruin
Unless we establish our roots
Bring voice to the mutes

The time is now
So bow
Your head
You have been miss lead
Malnutritioned, Unfed

These words of revolution ARE being said

So stand tall
Break down the walls
Of oppression
Don't fall victim to depression

We are the tribes
They've tried so hard to hide
Time to be abrupt

WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!

What is The Thing?

An event on Saturday, April 12, 2008. It's in a theater space in Hollywood. It needs artists, participants of every sort.

And it's free of admission. Yep, no charge. Nothing to sell, no trades, no advertising. Just a gathering.

Wanna be a part of The Thing? Let me know.

um, hello....that was freakin' beautiful! even tho' it was cold and the music was so loud it blew out some speakers, i'm surprised no one has chimed in yet....always so primal, sitting round the fire, dancing the vibes into the earth and out to the sky, watching the moon and sunrise in wonder, the round head of the drum under my hands, Connecting me....the round circle of friends holding hands in silent honor and delirious crushing whoopness---Connecting Me!

just wanted to say thanks! again for always being such an uplifting bunch of desert stomping freaks in my life....y'all are beautiful...and thanks to Mac for bringing out his funky jalopy as a shrine for dear departed brother Jack...after looking at all the pics and reading all the tributes, i really started to get sad, as i now remembered seeing that bro at all the gatherings, even tho' i didn't know him personally....he was quite a dude with a vision---- "The future will be clean and green!"....anybody know how to invent a green, electric car in his memory?

and tonight 11/27, $2 Tuesdays moves to the Zanzibar in Santa Monica! yippeee!

the way to Christ is simple

God's Blessings often benefit all people. But many of His promises are only for His own children. If you're not sure that you're a part of God's family, He offers you this invitation. The way to Christ is simple:

1. Admit that you have a need.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 3:23

2. Believe that Jesus is God, the Son, who paid the wages of your sin.

For the wages of sin is death [eternal separation from God]; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23

3. Call upon God.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10:9

King James Version

Im searching for an appropriate image of Moontribe to go in my forthcoming book Technomad (see the details below)

The image i have in mind is the one on the top left of the moontribe tribe.net site a: http://mt.tribe.net/ (its the human circle shot)

If you are the owner of this shot or know them, or know anything about it please contact me. I will need a 300 DPI version (or the highest res you have), and permission to use it. I will credit the photographer.

Thanks

Graham St John

Technomad: Global Raving Countercultures.

A cultural history of global electronic dance music countercultures forthcoming with Berghahn (2008), Technomad offers a broad yet detailed exposition of the pleasurable and activist trajectories of post-rave. The book documents the emergence of a network of techno-tribes, investigating their pleasure principles and cultural politics. Attending to sound system culture, electro-humanitarianism, secret sonic societies, teknivals and other gatherings of the techno-tribes, intentional parties, revitalisation movements and counter-colonial interventions, Technomad explores how the dance party has been harnessed for transgressive and progressive ends, for manifold freedoms. Seeking freedom from moral prohibitions and standards, pleasure in rebellion, refuge from sexual and gender prejudice, exile from oppression, rupturing aesthetic boundaries, re-enchanting the world, minimising harm, reclaiming space, fighting for "the right to party", and responding to a host of critical concerns, electronic dance music cultures are multivalent sites of resistance.

Drawing on extensive ethnographic, netogaphic and documentary research, Technomad details the post-rave trajectory through various local sites and global scenes, with each chapter attending to important developments in the techno counterculture: e.g. Spiral Tribe, teknivals, psytrance, Burning Man, Reclaim the Streets. Significantly, the book offers a nuanced theory of resistance to assist understanding of these developments. Written in an accessible style, this cultural history of hitherto uncharted territory will be of interest to students of cultural, performance, music, media, and new social movement studies, along with enthusiasts of dance culture and popular politics.

I am making a film about the vanishing of the bees. In order to raise some funds I am making some animal medicine jewelry using bone, fossil, and horns. I also use precious stones. If you could please take a moment to peruse my online shop I would be very grateful. Any feedback would be much appreciated. If you think you know someone who might enjoy my unconventional pieces, please forward this email along. We need bees to pollinate the delicious foods we eat!

Also, if you get a chance, here is a short clip of me meditating amid thousands and thousands of bees. (please note I am not in the actual documentary) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXircJ_eJ1Y

is there a place to re-organize my life/health...kinda like rehab?

I turn to tribe for a question because ....I am looking to make a big change in my life. I'd like to change the direction. I'm still tied to an old path that is no longer who I am. I am thinking as a way to start out, I'd like to go somewhere where I can rest and get healthy and put my head on straight. Do you know a place like this? Something very important is that I need to eat really well. I don't want to go to a place that serves unhealthy food. I'd like to go for a month or 2. I have looked at alot of rehab websites but nothing i've seen seems right. I don't even need tons of traditional therapy because I am pretty aware of my issues. What I need is a place to rest, to center, to get away from my situation for awhile. Also, I live in southern ca but i wouldn't mind doing this somewhere else. I've lived here my whole life and it's starting to be too much. So what i'd really like is a place that serves very healthy, organic food, is health/holistic centered and is a place where I can go and start things over again with a healthy body/mind.

All over the world our children are being systematically indoctrinated with misleading, twisted, and untrue, propaganda telling them that murder, hate, and killing by committing suicide, are noble and holy practices which will be rewarded both here and in the hereafter by God. We see so called "schools" and institutions which use food and sweets as a lure and where even such beloved icons as Mickey Mouse are being used to propagate a virulent message of hate to innocent and undistcriminating minds. The wholesale destruction of high ideals in the minds of the young is not limited to any one group, but is pervading the whole of society today.

It is a known fact that any belief system absorbed at a very early age into the minds of our children will inform their decisions and actions for the rest of their lives, and so impact the future of the world.

It is a vital importance then, to see that our children are exposed to ideas and ideals of the highest value and benefit to them, that are fun and pleasurably presented so they are easily absorbed. To that end THE CHILDRENS' PROGRAM was created.

THE SOLUTION

The program is based on a series of children’s books using animals to teach universal truths and ideals. Stories such as “The Little Blue Monkey,” which teaches not to hate somebody just because they ‘re different. “ Hathi and the Penguin,” which explains that though there is one God, God has many different names. And that all the different names of God are good. In “ Rabbit and Raccoon,” Raccoon learns the secret of happiness by choosing to only think good thoughts, speak only good words, and do only good deeds. For as Raccoon says to Rabbit, “ thinking good thoughts, speaking good words, and doing good deeds, makes me feel good, makes me happy. And happy is all we ever really want to be!” The books are illustrated with charming line drawings of the animals, which can be colored, and fit nicely into the pocket. As the books express no cast or creed, religion of politics, they can go everywhere and be accepted by all and have been. The books, after being read to the children, then discussed, and sometimes acted out in a play, are then given to each child to take home, where the message then goes into the community as parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters, get to share the stories. ( Unbelievably! A man we met got his PHD doing his thesis on Hathi and the Penguin ) along with the books a treat is also given – sometimes bananas and hot milk, whole meal cookies and milk, or even a nutritious meal depending on our facility and ability.

START UP

For the past year we have been doing this program in a small way to see how and if it would work. The results were even more amazing than expected. Not only was it accepted everywhere but most important we learned that goodness when reinforced and encouraged is the true nature of children.

WHO

The program is being done under auspices of Food Relief International – The Servants of Charity, a registered charity, which makes your donation tax exempt. The program itself is being run by committed volunteers, who are already in place in countries all over the world. The volunteers take no salary, because they see this as an opportunity to make a real contribution and because having seen for themselves the importance of this work they passionately believe in it. They have understood – "nothing will change until the consciousness is changed.”

WHAT IT WILL TAKE

The cost is only 50 cents per child which includes, food, books, and expenses. Because each book will impact the lives of more than one child at least two or more children are affected for the cost of one. Our goal is to reach 80,000 and more children over the next two years. To achieve this we will need a budget of $20,000.

$20,000 = 80,000 children

$10,000 = 40,000 children

$5,000 = 20,000 children

YOU

By your actions you communicate your most deeply held values and beliefs. If you wish this to be you program and your children, please let me know so we can work together for the greater good.

God Bless You With Love,

Hello!
The intensive workshop with Simone Forti is in the ambit of our international projects 2008, and will be from March 8 to 15 2008 in the beautiful Etruscan city of Orvieto, in mid Italy.
The workshop is limited to 16 participants.

Logomotion Writing Workshop
Sometimes our words don't have access to what we know in our bones.
In this workshop we will be improvising moving and speaking, and we will be writing.
While our writing will stimulate our imagination and support our improvisations, our improvisations will enrich our writing with a kinesthetic timing to phrasing and windows on sudden thoughts and memories.
Our activities will include studio sessions of improvisational moving and speaking, spontaneous writing, walks in town, with partners, for conversations about matters large and small, and private times to write and to craft our writings and to read them to each other.
We will borrow from the writing practice of Natalie Goldberg as found in her books “Writing Down the Bones” and “Wild Mind”, discovering the associations that gather spontaneously around a chosen point of departure.
As our movement work will include many activities in partners and in groups, some of our writing will include more than one voice, focusing on the relationships between the thoughts of different people.
A goal will be to write with wild mind and intention, and with awareness of world.

Jennifer Dunning writes in her 1991 New York Times review: “Simone Forti presented her first dance program in 1960 and has since then had a steadily increasing influence on post-modernist choreographers interested in exploring ‘natural’ or non-formalist movement and dance”.

Learning to walk barefoot

The Internet was new and, at least for me, a vast and undiscovered land when I came across an article: “Escaping pain in this life”. I don’t know who wrote those pages, but I’m still keeping a copy with me. The author explains:

“In order to enter and enjoy the natural world, one must return to their natural state. That means learning to walk barefoot on all kinds of terrain, in all kinds of weather (Sherpas and holy men do so, even in winter at 20,000 feet), swimming nude in ice-cold streams etc. until you become one with your natural environment. Obviously, this takes time. Seven years is not too long to give yourself, though some be faster or slower. (…) The reasons the '60s movement became so powerful, sexually, was that we went barefoot all the time, which allowed energy to enter our bodies from the Earth, and provided continuous stimulation of the reflex points on the soles of our feet. (As in most things, nature provides what we need far better than we can.) Going barefoot also created a connection to the Earth and everything on - and in – it, which is quite mysterious. There is definite planetary intelligence at work, and when we go barefoot, we're far more in touch with it.”

It was as if someone was writing about me: I'm always barefoot, all-year-round, wherever I go, whatever I do, and the main reason is that I feel disconnected if I’m wearing anything on my feet, and be it only a pair of flip-flops! “Seven years is not too long to give yourself” - It’s almost seven years now that I’ve given up wearing shoes altogether, that my feet aren’t imprisoned anymore… No doubt: Walking barefoot, I’m far more “in touch”, in touch with nature, with Mother Earth… Energy can flow freely, it’s very refreshing and stimulating. Besides: The ecological impact is far less dramatic (erosion!) if I’m hiking without shoes!

I’ve read about the various fears common in Western society about energy entering our bodies from the Earth, but there’s no reason to be afraid! Bare your soles and you’ll know what I’m talking about…

Moontribe Collective has a new home

Hi all,

I am reposting this in a new thread to make the move clear. After some council deliberation, the decision has been made to convert the Desert Elves tribe back to its original name and purpose, to be a tribe home for the Moontribe Collective. Our community has unfortunately been squatting on this tribe, which was originally created for discussion about the Moon, our nearest celestial neighbor. Our community's discussions regarding our gatherings, friendships, and events do not belong here. Since Desert Elves was originally created as Moontribe for this purpose many years ago, and many of our community members are already there, changing the name back is the easiest way to address the issues that have arisen.

Tribe members of this Moon Tribe, please limit your posts here to topics that pertain specifically the the Moon, the lovely bright face in the sky, and NOT our Moontribe Gatherings, people, events, or issues. Please move those discussions over to Moontribe, formerly known as DesertElves, formerly known as Moontribe. :-)

tribes.tribe.net/moontribecollective

Thanks and Blessings!

Lets leave this forum

I'm going to leave this forum for a few reasons:

A) I love moontribe, and this tribe has reflected very poorly on it. People here don't act like they do at Moontribe. My experience with Moontribe is a community of caring, loving, and supporting people. This tribe has not reflected that at all--why I don't know, but it hasn't. I don't think that core of caring and supporting people post here much--they are probably busy doing caring, loving, and suppporting things in the real world.

B) I don't think this tribe was actually created to even be for the Moontribe collective, but was actually intended to be a tribe for people with a general interest in the moon. This has created the problem that its for all intents and purposes unmoderated (the moderator doesn't seem to be active, and I don't know if he's ever even been to a moontribe and probably doesn't care about it--if he even is on tribe.net anymore). There is a risk that something will be posted that shouldn't be posted in a public forum (say, directions)--and if that happens nothing can be done about it except by the inactive moderator, or the person who posted it.

C) The tribe could use a fresh start. And apparently people need to be reminded to "be respectful". Incidentally there already IS a tribe, specifically for the Moontribe collective, with a moontribe community member moderating it (in case direction are posted). And that tribe already has a reminder to "be respectful". Its @ moontribe.tribe.net/ (there is also the desertfunkincornheads tribe). They are both moderated, needing a request to join at the moment, but oh well. Its not hard to wait a day for the moderator. On the upside we won't get so many of the "need directions" posts.

I'm don't want to seem like I'm attacking anyone. I know the interenet seems impersonal, and that leads to people not being as sensitive and gentle as they should be. There has certainly been times when I've not been as gentle and sensitive as I should have been.

But I think we should make the switch to that tribe, and in doing so make a concious effort to treat each other with more respect and to have less ridicule and talking past each other in those cases when there is a genuine disagreement to be resolved.

Offering ride to Playa Monday night (from Santa Monica)

Hi all,

I'm going to be leaving Santa Monica sometime Monday night to head out. Should be about a 10 hour drive so we'd get there early Tuesday morning. Probably need to make a stop in Reno although that is not definite.

Must be able to split gas costs, cannot bring any drugs in the car (in case we get pulled over).. Must be cool and try to stay up with me while I drive! Must love music and be as psyched to go to BRC as I am. Can't bring a bike or too much stuff, as I have a very small car.

I can probably only fit one person, so please give me a call at 914 450 2181 and leave a message, or email me at jonlippincott@gmail.com. Thanks a lot!

Jon
